CAMBRIDGE, MASS. (January 11, 2022) - Codio has partnered with edX to offer hands-on computer science and data science courses to learners across the world. Codio will be launching three courses on edX.org as part of a Professional Certificate in C++, with courses and certificates in Java and Python to follow.

Codio’s innovative learning platform is fully integrated with edX programming, meaning learners need only a web browser and internet connection to enroll in Codio courses, according to Patrick Ester, Codio’s Director of Content. “The Codio platform and our courseware are designed specifically to reduce the barriers to entry for novice programmers.

Learners can use the hardware they already have — even a Chromebook or tablet — without the need to install additional software. This makes our courses accessible to learners who may not have access to certain technical requirements for other online courses.”

Both Codio and edX share a commitment to delivering accessible and engaging learning experiences, said Phillip Snalune, Codio CEO and Co-Founder. “edX’s mission of providing high-quality educational opportunities to learners everywhere perfectly compliments Codio’s research-backed approach to delivering engaging computing courses for learners of all levels—we’re thrilled to be making our highly engaging and cutting-edge programming courses available to learners around the world in partnership with edX.”

“We’re excited to welcome Codio to the edX partner consortium with its first courses focused on C++ programming,” said Anant Agarwal, edX Founder, and 2U Chief Open Education Officer. “Offering high-quality, accessible learning content is part of edX’s mission, and we’re thrilled to now offer Codio’s courses to our global community of over 40 million learners.”

Learners can pre-enroll in Codio’s first edX computer science courses on edX.org starting January 11, 2022. Courses will be live the following month.

What Are edX Programs?

edX programs are online courses and programs designed to teach you in-demand skills. Programs are composed of multiple courses, helping you gain a deep understanding of a particular topic or skill set. You can enroll in an edX program to:

  • Gain expertise in a specific subject area
  • Prepare for a certification exam
  • Advance your career
  • Learn for personal enrichment

The benefit of edX programming is that they give you a comprehensive understanding of a subject area or skill set by combining multiple courses. This type of learning is also more affordable than taking individual courses, as most edX programs offer a discounted price when compared to the cost of taking each course in the program separately.

Are edX Certificates Worth It?

If you're looking for a more comprehensive learning experience, edX certificates may be worth your investment. These programs are designed to give you a well-rounded education in a specific subject area and can be completed in as little as six months.

edX data programming courses offer an interactive way to learn coding languages like C++ and can be completed at your own pace. If you're looking for an affordable, flexible way to learn coding languages, edX courses are definitely worth it.

Which Course Is Best For Programming?

If you're looking to learn a specific coding language, our data science edX C++ Programming: A Hands-on Introduction course is perfect for beginners who want to learn the basics of coding in C++. This course covers programming fundamentals like variables, data types, loops, and functions. Stay tuned for more edX computer science courses from Codio.
