Licenses Explained

Yes. Codio offers both institutional pay and student self-pay options. Instructors can enable student self-pay within their Codio organization.

Regardless of the number of courses students are enrolled in that use Codio, they only need 1 license per semester. All students need is your course code and a credit card upon signing up for their account. 

Yes. Codio is a web-based front-end IDE that addresses all aspects of the development lifecycle—from prototype to deployment. It is easy enough for beginners of all ages to learn how to program but also provides functionality to progress with the student. Many students can use Codio as they enter professional careers.

Codio can be used by students of any age and at any knowledge level. Codio is built for computer science education and to create an interactive experience for students to learn how to code. It can be used with primary school students to university students.

Codio is designed for computer science teachers to use in the classroom. It combines an online code editor, curriculum-mapped courses, course publishing tools and the ability to monitor student progress. And because it’s cloud-based, you don’t worry about the administrative hassle of setting up a code environment. As a teacher, you get access to class administration tools to monitor student progress and manage your class within Codio. With an annual license, you pay once a year but can swap the licenses to new students between the Fall and Spring semesters.

Usually when you close a project, its' Box will automatically shut down after a few minutes. An Always-On Box is one that never shuts down, and is therefore always on to be accessed by colleagues or clients.

We will issue you with an invoice that can be paid by bank transfer or credit card. You can also switch to student self-pay by following these steps.

The account holder is the individual who creates your organization in Codio and is responsible for payment.

A teacher account gives the teacher access to all the learning and class management tools needed, ability to monitor and track student progress and integration capability with leading LMS platforms. Student accounts provide access to the entire Codio platform and allow submission of code projects directly to the teacher for assessment.

You do — you can save and export your code, or save it to a repository.
