Do I lose my content if I stop using GitHub Classroom?

No. Your content lives in Git repositories that you control. You're changing the course delivery layer—not the source material.

Can I keep using GitHub?

Absolutely. Codio is built for Git-centric teaching. Your repositories stay on GitHub; Codio provides the course delivery, grading, and student experience layer.

What about autograding?

Yes, you can migrate your grading logic to Codio and keep your tests running exactly as before. Plus, you gain access to a wider range of assessment types: partial credit, I/O matching, multi-file projects, and LLM-powered rubric grading for code quality and style.

How long does setup actually take?

For a typical course with standard autograding, most instructors complete setup and configuration in a few hours over a week or two. Complex setups with custom grading scripts may take longer, but our support team and workshops are there to help you through the tricky parts.

Will my TAs need retraining?

Codio's interface is intuitive, and TAs familiar with GitHub will find the transition straightforward. We provide TA-specific training resources, and most TAs are comfortable within their first grading session.

What is the cost?

GitHub users who continue to use GitHub Codespaces can use Codio for free. Institutions with 50 learners or fewer per year can use Codio free for 12 months. For larger institutions, Codio offers a range of custom pricing and support options.
