Making websites is fun, well at least I think so. When I was a teacher, I made sure to include a web development topic with my students ages 12-14, so that students had the opportunity to learn HTML and CSS.

The theory being that if a district adopts a better approach to matching professional development to teacher needs, it improves the overall effectiveness of its teachers, which, as we all know, then improves student outcomes. So, I challenge YOU to explore Codio's Web-based IDE, or WIDE (where you now know you can write/run code in number of different languages) even more than you already have.

Codio is insanely convenient. Over 160+ academic institutions and 15,000 students have joined Codio in 2016. A kid coder just told us it's one of the gears that makes the internet work.

Codio is releasing new curriculum content that maps to the CS K12 Framework. It features content for Middle Schools and High Schools covering topics such as algorithms, programming, computing systems, networks, cyber security and data analysis.

In a computer science classroom, offering student choice on HOW they present something can be an invaluable as letting them choose WHAT they present. This idea led me to consider the following recently-- why not let students choose the WHAT they study, ie the LANGUAGE they want to learn to code!

Blended learning classes combine a mix face-to-face and web-based instruction, where 30%-70% of the instruction is delivered fully online. Codio is perfect to use in a blended learning classroom.
